OOID Stereo

custom speakers + amplifier

A highly optimized stereo speaker system with a custom amplifier, now powering the soundscape of Sitio.

Origin

Sound waves have no 90-degree angles, yet most speakers are shaped like boxes.

OOID rejects this. It has no right angles which also enhances performance. Its geometry was carefully developed through computer acoustic simulations, to achieve performance.

Modern process

The speaker geometry was coded by hand (no AI), which allowed fast changes and testing of multiple versions, several of which were presented at the opening event.

Responsible materials

The drivers are made in Italy and Germany that ensure quality and reduces CO₂ emissions from transport. The enclosure is made of recyclable PETG. No paint was used, that reduces the use of fossil-based materials.

Innovation

OOID is the first speaker to combine two acoustic concepts: the Multiple Entry Horn (MEH) and the Le Cléac'h horn expansion.

The MEH provides impeccable phase alignment at the crossover frequency, while the Le Cléac'h expansion spreads sound as a smooth spherical wavefront, without beaming.

A bass reflex port extends the low end, allowing the speaker to reach 50 Hz.
